Lakota Canyon Ranch, New Castle

The Romero Group is very happy to announce the acquisition and ensuing operation of Lakota Canyon Ranch and Golf Links as well as the remaining undeveloped land. It is our intention to swiftly make improvements to the facilities, amenities and neighborhood comprising this special and underappreciated corner on the western slope of Colorado.

It was easy for us to see the unrealized potential of New Castle, Colorado. Named after the English coal mining town Newcastle-on-Tyne, it was incorporated in 1888. Located on the Western Slope of the Rocky Mountains, 173 miles west of Denver, this town of 2,900 residents rests at an elevation of 5,550 feet. The Town is bordered on the north by 7,000 acres of Bureau of Land Management lands and 20,000 acres of White River National Forest lands. South of town are 11,000 acres of protected Division of Wildlife properties.

A mighty river indeed runs through it, the Colorado River, presenting wonderful opportunities for trout fishing, white water rafting and kayaking, and wildlife viewing. Additionally, the adjoining Elk Creek provides wonderful scenery as well as trout fishing. It goes without saying that world-class skiing and snowboarding at no fewer than seven major resorts including Vail/Beaver Creek and Aspen/Snowmass are just over an hour away. Other outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy epic big game hunting, boating, snowmobiling, wilderness hiking and camping, mountain biking—all in New Castle’s backyard.

In line with the Romero Group’s ideology, we seek to not only do business, but heartily invest both dollars and spirit into the properties and developments we own and/or manage.
