Dwayne Romero has over two decades of real estate development, management, and investment, experience specializing in mountain resort communities in the Rocky Mountains. He is the former President of Related Colorado, an operating division of Related Companies, the $20 billion international real estate development and investment firm headquartered in New York. As President, Romero led all aspects of business planning and overall direction of these properties and operating assets. Dwayne Romero also served as General Manager for all hospitality and property management functions in the oversight of over 150 condominiums and a dozen homeowner associations throughout Snowmass Village and Aspen.
Prior to his work with Related, Dwayne Romero served as Managing Partner and Co-Founder of Steeplechase Development Partners, LLC, a real estate development management company that oversaw management of several notable mixed-use projects in Aspen, including Obermeyer Place as well as The Residences at Little Nell – a five star, luxury private residence club at the base of Aspen Mountain. Steeplechase Partners also successfully developed several high-end, luxury single-family residences in Aspen. Previously, Dwayne Romero served as a development manager for the Hines Corporation in the Rocky Mountain region.
A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Dwayne Romero served in the United States Army Corps of Engineers for seven years, including a leadership role in combat in the Persian Gulf War. His efforts earned him a Bronze Star Medal for leadership valor. Dwayne Romero graduated from several U.S. Army leadership schools, including U.S. Army Ranger School as a distinguished honor graduate. He has earned his MBA from Harvard Business School.
In 2011 Dwayne Romero served as the Executive Director for the Office of Economic Development and International Trade, a cabinet position for current Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper. He led the Governor’s “Bottom Up” statewide economic development efforts and then launched the “Colorado Blueprint”, the Governor’s successful economic development plan for recovery and growth, still in use today.
Dwayne Romero is active and involved in several local community efforts and organizations. He was elected to serve two terms on Aspen City Council (2007-11 and 2013-15), and he has served on the Board of Directors of the Aspen Fire Protection District. He is an active member of the Aspen Rotary Club and is Past President with the Aspen Historical Society. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Veterans for National Service Foundation, a national organization that educates and supports veterans seeking to enter public service at the local, state, and federal levels.
